Elizabeth Taylor Has A Black Boyfriend

Jason Winters, left, is Elizabeth Taylor's boyfriend. Why is that news? Because interracial couples are still fascinating in America. It is still unusual, even for Hollywood celebrities. You see it is still a stigma to be with a black person. They are inferior you know. Either closer to the monkeys or cursed by somebody or another. Whatever fulfills the need of whites to feel superior to blacks.

So see it for yourself at this link. She plays coy while he plays it up. Liz was so fine when she was young that there's plenty of spark left. Her platonic relationship with Michael must have fizzled after she did not stand by him during his trial and tribulation.

Morgan Freeman Talks Environment In Grist

Morgan Freeman is a closet environmentalist. He comes out in this Grist magazine article. Being Black he is a practical environmentalist. And we completely understand this at AAEA. Here is a snippet from the interview:

"I was in New York. A bus came up and then took off, and I had to hold my breath. And I thought, you know, that's what it is. And then you start looking at places like Santiago, Los Angeles, Beijing, Singapore -- all of these places where people are literally dying from the air. Mexico City, wherever there are densities of people, we have environmental problems, and now it's pretty much global. So what are we talking here, about 25 years of concern."

Cavemen: Slick Racism or Intelligent Allegory?

By Environment Man

Interesting Find: The show is co-executive produced and created by Joe Lawson, a fellow Wake Forest University alum of our president Norris McDonald.

Update: Saw the first episode. Not racist. Funny and possibly a platform to comment on racism and many other isms. Hope the show makes it.

"Crave the Cave"

"Sapes" (Homo sapiens)

"Keep your penis in the genus"

"Shaver"

Allegory: 1) the expression by means of symbolic fictional figures and actions of truths or generalizations about human existence 2) a symbolic representation.

We have not seen an episode of ABC Television's new 2007 sitcom "Cavemen" based on the characters from the Geico commercials. We have read plenty about it though and of course formed some opinions about the commercials. We want to dislike the show as racist for using less than fully developed human beings as representations of Black people. Such a representation is racist on its face, particularly if you believe we are all children of God.

But wait a minute. Maybe there is an opportunity here to comment on the ridiculousness of racism. After all, these cavemen are clearly White. Maybe that is how they can get away with it because if they were Black it probably would not work on any level and would just be universally condemned. But lets look at some possibilities. Will there be any Black cavemen? If not will the NAACP and Al Sharpton complain? The cavemen have white girlfriends. Will there be any kissing on the show? And what about bedroom implication scenes? Now you are messing with interracial dating and miscegenation fears. And on and on. So maybe just maybe this show might just be interesting. We will see.

Bugs Bunny Was Originally Black

Bugs Bunny was Black in original episodes. Although the first episodes were racist, they clearly show that Bugs was Black. Here is how it is described at Wikipedia:
"All This and Rabbit Stew" features Bugs Bunny being hunted by a slow-witted Black hunter, very similar in speech pattern and mannerism to StepinFetchit. After Bugs outwits the hunter several times, Bugs wins all of his clothing through a dice game. Due to the film's stereotyping, it has not been seen on television since 1968, and is one of the "Censored Eleven" group of banned Looney Tunes shorts. After winning a dice game, Bugs wins the Black man's clothes and then runs off with them, leaving the man with nothing but a patch of leaves covering his crotch.
Elmer Fudd, pictured with Bugs, was also originally black. In a 1946 Looney Tunes short "The Big Snooze," the animation of the Black hunter was redrawn into animation of a white Elmer Fudd. Of course they did leave Daffy Duck and Marvin The Martian black.

Bugs Bunny Theme: "This Is It"

Overture, curtain, lights
This is it
The night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtain, lights
This is it
We'll hit the heights
And oh what heights we'll hit...
On with the show, this is it!
