George Clinton 'Raises Roof' on The Tonight Show

By Environment Man

George Clinton and the Gangsters of Love All Stars performed a blistering rendition of his new song "Aint That Peculiar," which was popularized by Marvin Gaye in the 1960's on the Sept 17th, 2008 edition of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

El Debarge and Sly Stone perform the song on Dr. Funkenstein's new album, "Gangsters of Love." On the LP, El does El and Sly uses a vocorder in the background. The set was tight though. When George is serious about the music, nobody (with the possible exception of Stone) is tighter. It was the best funk/rock I have heard in a very long time, particularly performed live. They followed with "Higher" by Sly & the Family Stone.

It was also interesting to see Jay Leno and Meghan McCain (that's right John's daughter) standing there with the band at the end of the set.
